Grammys Flashback: Christina Aguilera 2000

The Best New Artist Grammy is the ultimate affirmation for a music artist. In 2000, against a talented group of artists that would eventually have thriving careers, Christina Aguilera was shocked to be granted the esteemed award.

After her debut self-titled album skyrocketed up the charts, the then-19-year-old singer received her first Grammy nominations for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for "Genie in a Bottle" and Best New Artist.

PICS: Christina's Most Memorable Looks

Amongst the stiff competition for the New Artist award, which also included Kid Rock, Macy Gray, and Susan Tedeschi, was fellow teenage pop sensation Britney Spears.

While Aguilera had a strong fan base at the time and had just performed at the Super Bowl halftime show, Spears was in the worldwide spotlight for her debut alum Baby One More Time, which made her a favorite to win the award.

Thus, Aguilera approached that year's Grammys assuming that Spears would be given the award; however, The Recording Academy decided against the masses and selected the "What a Girl Wants" singer as the Best New Artist.

PICS: Stars Set to Perform at Grammys

"I don't know anymore," Aguilera responds when asked by ET's former co-host Mark Steines if the moment seemed real. "I did not expect it at all. I had no speech prepared; nothing. I can't believe it."

What was going through her mind when she surprisingly received the award?

"Complete and utter shock. Just shock," she reveals. "I had no idea. I thought it was going to go to somebody else. I had no idea, no idea."

Aguilera has gone on to receive three other awards out of a total of eighteen nominations, twice winning Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.

Her fellow pop star Spears hasn't has been received as warmly by The Recording Academy over the years. For her seven albums, Spears has only received one Grammy out of eight nominations, which came in 2005 for Best Dance Recording ("Toxic").

'NCIS' Cast on Ziva David and Tony DiNozzo's Relationship

NCIS
has captivated and roused viewers for ten seasons now. One of the ongoing storylines of the procedural drama that has intrigued viewers for a while is the budding romance between "Ziva" and "DiNozzo." With Season 10 at its peak, the cast teases more of the dynamic relationship ahead.

While the two characters, played by Cote de Pablo and Michael Weatherly, are generally playfully mean with one another, there have been a few moments when they've been alone in which they have experienced a romantic connection.

VIDEO: (Re)Watch The Best & Worst Super Bowl Commercials

Although their connection hasn't led to anything concrete, it has created anticipation amongst fans as to what it may evolve into in the future. De Pablo revealed that although she hasn't seen any future scripts, she anticipates more romantic probing between the two.

"I have a feeling that they're going to want to play with that [relationship] a little bit more and see where that goes," the 33-year-old actress said. "I think they're always testing that relationship and they're always throwing things at it to see how far they can take [it].

"It's already a very complex relationship. They're very close; they're very good friends; and they trust each other. So, I think the complexity of it all can go further and I think they're going to explore more."

Weatherly didn't say much on whether he thought his character and De Pablo's character would be taking their relationship to the next level in the future, but joked that the logistics of it might not work, saying, "The tricky thing is that any time you lean in to kiss somebody and they're wearing a gun, I think it's a complicated TV moment."

While fans would be curious to watch Ziva and DiNozzo's romantic relationship unfold, there is one member of the cast who hopes the relationship doesn't escalate.

"I don't want any of our cast members to be in relationships on screen at all," said Pauley Perrette ("Abby Sciuto"). "I like things the way they are, so I'm not in [to] that. I'm petitioning against it."

2. Nicole Kidman on Her Lap Dance for Jimmy Kimmel

Nicole Kidman raised eyebrows during Matt Damon's Jimmy Kimmel Live! takeover when she greeted Kimmel -- who was strapped to a chair -- with a lap dance. On the SAG Awards red carpet, the Oscar winner explained the move to Nancy O'Dell.

Kidman described the dance as "impromptu," saying that she was just following the lead of another one of the night's guests.

"Robin Williams had done it before, so I thought, 'Well, why not?'" Kidman explained.

For years Kimmel has had a running joke where he ends every episode by apologizing to Matt Damon for running out of time for him. On last week's special episode of the late-night show -- nine years in the making -- Damon recruited some friends (which included Andy Garcia, Sheryl Crow, Ben Affleck, Jennifer Lopez, Robert DeNiro, Sarah Silverman, Demi Moore and Oprah Winfrey.

4. Jennifer Lawrence Suffers Wardrobe Malfunction

It seemed like disaster for Jennifer Lawrence when her dress came apart just as she was called up to accept the award for Best Actress during the 2013 SAG Awards.

The Silver Linings Playbook star's apparent wardrobe malfunction caught the eye of both Marion Cotillard and Nicole Kidman, whose reaction to the getup coming apart at the seams was caught on camera. No disaster, here, though -- it turns out the dress was designed that way! A source close to designer Dior told ET that the dress did not rip -- that it was made with different layers of tulle and satin.

This minor outfit hitch comes after it was announced that Lawrence, 22, has walking pneumonia, making this one of the best and worst weeks for the award-winning actress.

'Elementary': Lucy Liu, Jonny Lee Miller Preview the Post-Super Bowl Episode

Elementary
has been given the ultimate network honors this year by being slotted after the Super Bowl. The timeslot gives the show, which is in its first season, exposure to its largest audience, and stars Lucy Liu and Jonny Lee Miller tease a good show.

The post-Super Bowl timeslot has helped many new shows get on their feet, as the audience for the NFL's championship game has averaged well over 100 million viewers in the past few years. The Voice experienced the reward of the timeslot last year for its Season 2 premiere, which garnered a whopping 37.6 million viewers.

PICS: They Dated?! Surprising Celebrity Hookups

"I didn't understand completely what that meant that we were coming on after the Super Bowl because it's on a Sunday and our show comes on Thursdays," said Lucy Liu, who plays "Watson" in the Sherlock Holmes modern adaptation, "but...that only meant that [CBS was] incredibly excited and confirmed that they believe in the show."

With more eyes than usual on the new crime drama, Liu previewed the episode as amped-up in comparison to Elementary's previous thirteen episodes of its first season. More sex and action are to be expected.

VIDEO: Can Lucy Liu (Watson) Keep Sherlock Holmes Sober?

"I think it's dynamic in the way that it's still involves a procedural aspect of a murder," Liu revealed. "...There's a criminal that's unpredictable and that's what they are focusing on, and there's a side-story of Watson and her living situation...but there's a lot of sex and there's a lot of action in the show--more so than usual--and I think that dynamic actually plays really well into the Super Bowl."

While both Liu and Miller have previously been regulars on TV series, it has been a while for both of them since they have taken on a lead role on a show. Moreover, the two are acclimating to the nuances of this particular show.

VIDEO: Meet the Breakout Stars of the Fall TV Season

"It's a constant adjustment," said Miller, who plays "Sherlock Holmes" in the series. "... You're just getting in the flow and just understanding one episode and then someone hands you a new one which you're about to start in a few days. So, it's a great balance of being kept on your toes and keeping your head straight and discovering the characters."

Grammys Flashback: Rihanna 2008

There have been a few Barbadian natives and people with Barbadian descent to become stars over the years, but none have reached the cosmic heights of Rihanna. In 2008, the singer soared into the stratosphere with her first Grammy win, which sent her native Barbados into a frenzy.

Barbados has had successful entertainment personalities like musicians Grandmaster Flex and Doug E. Fresh, and also has star lineage if we include the Barbadian descent of LL Cool J, Cuba Gooding Jr., and even Gwyneth Paltrow.

PICS: Stars Set to Perform at Grammys

For some perspective, the island in The Lesser Antilles has a population of less than 288,000 (roughly the same as St. Paul, Minn.) and is a mere 166 square miles, which is small enough to fit nearly three times over in the city of Los Angeles alone.

Therefore, it's a collective celebration when triumph comes to Barbadian stars.

Only one Barbadian musician had won a Grammy prior to Rihanna (Jimmy Senya Haynes, Steel Pulse), so when she won for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for "Umbrella," Barbados erupted and then-Prime Minister David Thompson gave the singer a phone call to applaud her achievement.

VIDEO: Grammys Flashback '05: Kanye Wins First of Many

"Everybody's excited. The Prime Minister just called and congratulated me," she tells ET's former correspondent Mark Steines backstage. "It's so awesome. Everybody at home was just screaming. I cannot believe we did it."

Barbados would have plenty of reasons for celebration in the years to come, as Rihanna has won the Best Rap/Sung Collaboration award twice more ("Run This Town," "All of the Lights") and also won Best Dance Recording for "Only Girl (In the World)."

VIDEO: Grammys Flashback '10: Taylor Swift Makes History

Now with four Grammys and a streak of three consecutive years with an award, the Barbadian singer has another opportunity to bring celebration back to her native island with nominations for Best Pop Solo Performance ("Where Have You Been"), Best Rap/Sung Collaboration ("Talk That Talk") and Best Short Form Music Video ("We Found Love").

It is assumed that the fashionably fabulous ladies stepping out during awards season have endured weeks of vigorous diet and exercise before their big day, but Parks and Recreation star Amy Poehler wants you to know that she's not one of them.

When asked about her red carpet regimen for Sunday's SAG Awards, a gorgeous-looking Poehler (in sparkling black Zuhair Murad) shrugged, admitting to ET's Rocsi Diaz the glitz and glamour isn't her thing.

"I don't really love getting dressed up," she said, "so I try to make it as painless as possible."

She adds, "I'm sure I need it, but I'm just too tired to do it."

Exclusive: JJ Abrams Confirms Bradley Cooper in Talks For Lance Armstrong Biopic

Shortly after Bradley Cooper expressed interest (publicly) in portraying disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong in J.J. Abrams'upcoming biopic about the athlete, the producer/director confirmed to ET exclusively that he is indeed in talks with Cooper for the role.

Pics: Stars Take On Real-Life Roles

When asked about Cooper's interest in tackling the part backstage at the Producers Guild Awards in Los Angeles, Abrams told ET's Christina McLarty "[Cooper] sent me an email and we've been talking."

Said Cooper to BBC News on January 22, "I would be interested in [playing Armstrong]. I think he's fascinating. What a fascinating character."

Paramount Pictures & Bad Robot (J.J. Abram's production company) secured the rights to Cycle of Lies: The Fall of Lance Armstrong, a book proposal penned by Juliet Macur, in mid-January just after Armstrong admitted publicly to doping during all seven Tour de France wins. The author, a sports reporter from The New York Times, has covered the athlete over the span of a decade throughout Armstrong's struggle with cancer, years of doping allegations and ensuing lawsuits.

Report: J.J. Abrams to Direct New 'Star Wars' Movie

Disney/ Andrew H. Walker/ Getty Images

The Force is with J.J. Abrams. The prolific producer/director has agreed to direct the next installment of the Star Wars franchise, confirms Walt Disney Studios.

Pics: Must-See Movies of 2013

"I've consistently been impressed with J.J. as a filmmaker and storyteller," said George Lucas of Abrams in an official statement. "He's an ideal choice to direct the new Star Wars film and the legacy couldn't be in better hands."

In October, it was announced that Disney had acquired Star Wars creator George Lucas' company Lucasfilm Ltd. for $4.05 billion in cash and stock, in turn announcing that new Star Wars movies will be released. The first new Star Wars movie -- Star Wars: Episode 7 -- will be released in 2015 with Lucas serving as creative consultant. Kathleen Kennedy, who is the current co-chair of Lucasfilm, will become Lucasfilm's president and serve as executive producer on new Star Wars feature films.

Of course, Abrams successfully rebooted the Star Trek franchise in 2009, with his highly anticipated follow-up sequel, Star Trek Into Darkness, hitting theaters May 17.

Said Abrams, "To be a part of the next chapter of the Star Wars saga, to collaborate with Kathy Kennedy and this remarkable group of people, is an absolute honor. I may be even more grateful to George Lucas now than I was as a kid."

Amanda Seyfried Calls Mean Girls Her Best Work

Despite being fresh off an Oscar-nominated film (Les Miserables), Amanda Seyfried apparently holds a soft spot for her breakout film Mean Girls, calling it her "best work" to date.

"I was so innocent. I was so green," reflects Seyfried in an interview with Indiewire. "I still look back at Mean Girls as my best work."

Pics: Amanda Seyfried as Porn Star Lovelace

The 27-year-old star stole the show playing the lovably ditzy Karen Smith in the 2004 comedy. Interestingly enough, Seyfried had little confidence in her on-screen work at the time.

"I look back and I’m like, 'Really, I thought I was doing a terrible job.' But it was written so well and so wonderfully directed," says the actress. "Mark Waters (the director) made me look good; he made me funny. And Tina Fey wrote the coolest script of all time."

Now, quite a bit more assured in her abilities, Seyfried is gearing up to show off her chops (and much more) as '70s porn star Linda Lovelace in the new biopic Lovelace. When asked about her reservations in taking on such a risque role, the star says she felt surprisingly comfortable disrobing and simulating sexual acts on film.

Video: SJP Talks About Replacing Demi Moore in 'Lovelace'

"I don't know why I’m comfortable. Nudity: whatever! Sex: we all do it," Seyfried explains to Indiewire. "There's a time and a place to be naked. There's no part in this movie that makes me think, 'Oh, wow, she's naked.' She's a porn star! We simulated some scenes but there's no graphic content in this movie, at all. I mean the graphic stuff is when he's raping me on my wedding night. You see my skirt go up over my head when I’m being gang raped, but it's like, so perfectly done."

SAG Awards Flashback: Helen Mirren 2007

Helen Mirren has received many accolades for her acting over the years, but no year was more special for her than 2007. The nominations and awards came crashing over the English actress for her roles as Queens Elizabeth I and II. Backstage after winning an award at the SAG Awards, Dame Mirren finds her king.

At that year's SAGs, Mirren was nominated for both of her Queen Elizabeth performances: Best Actress in a TV Movie or Miniseries for Elizabeth I and Best Lead Actress for The Queen. She had just received Golden Globes for the two acclaimed performances and was nominated for what could be her first Oscar.

It was an exciting year for Mirren, who embraces her "Woman of the Year" tag from ET's former correspondent Jann Carl but wishes that the sweetness of her success weren't so concentrated.

VIDEO: Oscars Flashback '07: Helen Mirren and Jamie Foxx

Also having a career year for his acting was Forest Whitaker, who received a Golden Globe, SAG, and an Oscar for his role in The Last King of Scotland, which was also written by The Queen writer Peter Morgan.

Although he didn't literally play a king in the film, Whitaker takes on a royal persona when congratulating Mirren backstage for her win, spoiling her with compliments and kisses.

"There's nothing like that particular role," she says of her role as Elizabeth I. "...It demanded everything you had as an actress/actor and I gave it everything that I had, everything. It means so much to me for it to be recognized here in America."

RELATED: Helen Mirren to Play the Queen Again

Her success at that year's awards season was beyond mere recognition; it bordered more on the lines of idolatry. Or fittingly: worship.

Mrs. Mirren went on to win her other award that night for The Queen and also won the Oscar a few weeks later for her role in the film.

While she has since stepped down from her royal platform, she has another opportunity to add to her SAGs collection with a nomination for her leading role as Alfred Hitchcock's wife in Hitchcock.

Miranda Lambert Talks Self Esteem Issues, Husband Blake Shelton and Pedigree Dog Charity

"They're our family," describes country superstar Miranda Lambert of her growing collection of pooches, horses, chickens and hogs with husband Blake Shelton.

While Miranda has a soft spot for just about any four-legged creature she comes across, the 29-year-old singer tells ET's Brooke Anderson that her brood of five pups holds her heart and she views them just as she would her very own babies.

"We don't have children so our dogs are our children and we kind of treat them that way," laughs Miranda of her of the dogs who travel with her everywhere, including on tour.

Although Blake is currently gearing up for a return to The Voice and Miranda recently kicked off her 2013 Locked & Reloaded tour and started recording with her band The Pistol Annies, in less hectic times the twosome enjoys the country life on their farm in Tishomingo, Oklahoma.

"We go home it's like a totally different world," says Miranda. "We're in the country, just with animals and we're miles from any major city and it really calms us down, keeps us grounded.

It should come as no surprise that, next to music, Miranda calls animals her "passion" which is why the singer has chosen to use her fame to benefit animals in need by partnering with the PEDIGREE feeding project. The program offers five shelters-in-need (from all across America) the opportunity to receive free food for a year if selected.

"It's saved shelters up to $100,000 in the past," explains Miranda of the project. "I think it will draw so much [attention] to shelters and adoption and just really get people involved in their local communities with adopting pets."

Gayle King Reacts to Oprah Winfrey Interview with Lance Armstrong

ET's Rocsi Diaz chatted with Oprah Winfrey's best friend Gayle King on Sunday, where the CBS This Morning co-anchor revealed that Lance Armstrong wasn't the only one with a lot at stake during last week's interview.

RELATED: Biggest Celebrity Scandals

"I've only seen [Oprah] nervous twice -- Michael Jackson, back in the day that was live, and with Lance Armstrong," Gayle said at The Daily Beast/Newsweek bipartisan brunch. "She knew that there was a lot at stake. She knew that people would be watching her and she knew that people would be watching him."

Those nerves may have brought out the best in Lady O, as Gayle revealed Oprah's preparation leading up to the sit down. Gayle told Rocsi that Oprah looked at every interview that Lance has done, read the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency report and three books all in one week.

On the day of the interview, Oprah issued a series of rapid-fire yes or no questions, in which the retired cyclist confirmed that he had blood transfusions and used the banned substance erythropoietin (EPO) during his career -- particularly during all seven of his Tour de France victories.

"You know it's a good interview when you're done and you get in the car and you say, 'There's not another thing I wish I would've asked him,'" said Gayle. "That's pretty good, and that's how she felt."

The brunch was a part of the festivities surrounding the Presidential Inauguration. Other attendees included Eva Longoria, Star Jones, Kerry Washington and Rosario Dawson.

Mrs. Obama debuted her shoulder-length bob with eye-level bangs via Twitter on her birthday, Thursday, January 17, and she told Rocsi that Dr. Jill Biden may have had an influence on her.

"I've been coveting [Dr. Biden's] bangs for four years," joked Mrs. Obama, quipping that they're "the bang sisters." She also revealed that husband President Barack Obama gave her a "beautiful necklace" as a recent birthday gift.

On the topic of Lance Armstrong's interview with Oprah in which he admits to doping, Mrs. Obama said, "I didn't even get a chance to see it. It's a sad situation for everyone who's watching ... I think we have to remember all the people that have been helped and who will continue to need the help of [The Livestrong Foundation]. We should focus on making sure that cancer survivors and people dealing with the disease have the kind of support, medical and research, that they need to deal with the situation. We can't lose sight of that accomplishment."

Rocsi will present at tonight's Kids' Inaugural, which marks the latest efforts by the First Lady and Dr. Jill Biden's Joining Forces initiative to urge Americans to support our troops, and our Gold Star and Blue Star families.

The First Lady described the event in a video message, explaining that it's about "celebrating who we are as Americans and the people who make our country great -- our men and women in uniform, our military spouses, and our amazing military kids. So it's no surprise that when Jill and I decided to host this event, everyone wanted to join us -- from Katy Perry to Glee, from Nick Cannon to Usher. They know that military kids serve this country right alongside their moms and dads, and we’re really looking forward to celebrating our military families this weekend."
